I love our library!

Woke up at 10 am....oh the joy of my occasional late sleeper. I think we both must have needed the rest. Got up and dressed and headed to our library....I know I have said it before, but I LOVE our library. It is just a wonderful place, and our 2 children librarians are everything we could ever ask for. Such amazing resources. I think we have about 30 books checked out at the moment LOL.

We normally head to the library 2 days a week. Wed is story time at our library. One day A informed me that she did not have enough time to spend looking at books, reading them, and checking them out after story time since mom didn't want to hang out for 4 hours a the library in one day LOL. So our schedule changed to Tuesdays....our days to send just enjoying all the books, exploring, and reading at the library... Usually for an hour our two. And then on Wed we head back for story time. I love how much my child loves our library....but it definitely would not be the special place is is without our librarians....so if you love your librarians....give a shout out to them and the hard work they do. This week A and I are going to be making some little gifts to show them how much we appreciate them.

What I've been up to.... I opened an ETSY shop

That's right.....I finally did it. I opened my etsy shop....now lets see if anything sells. Kookie Nut Creations is now open. I have been having fun making bows, clips, and headbands for Ansley and so I decided to try my hand at selling them. I've also made some thins for mom....things I love to wear. I am hoping to bring in some money to add to our adoption fund. We are not anywhere even close to being able to start the process now. It hurts my heart that it takes so much. We have been through so much the past few years and are finally settled, but our family does not feel complete. I wish it was easy for us to just make the decision and try for another child....but I want A to have a mom and my husband to have a wife, and well my body just can not handle it. I almost died with A, and still have some after effects, so that is out of the question....jut hurts....anyway, that is enough rambling. Don't know what took me in that direction. I think just finding out that another of my friends from college just had her second baby, no problems, no complications, so easy.

Anyway.....so much for that. But this is what I have been busy with...so please go check it out. A little shameless self promotion on my part LOL.

The Good and The Bad

Such a fun day! Some days are just better than others, and today was one of those good days...yesterday not so much.

Let's start with yesterday's story. You ever have those days where you just know it is going to be a hard day before your child ever gets out of bed? Where yesterday was that kind of day. A woke up whining....about what?....I have no clue. We went down stairs and changed her mind 5 times about what to eat before eating breakfast..... usually she reads to me, and we do some work on advance words and advanced phonic rules that don't follow the normal sound it out way that she taught herself, but she was just not having any of it. So we moved on...she played, I attempted to clean....well by noon we have already had 5 time outs....Everything I said seemed to go in one ear and out the other.

Well, after lunch things got even worse....we went outside to play. I talked to my neighbor who had her door open while she cleaned and packed to go out of town.... Then it happened.....

She was on our back porch...I said wait right here...(she does this all the time...always waits right there for me.) I ran into the house, grabbed something from the living room, and came right back out....so through kitchen, dining room, living room and back through dining room, and kitchen and out the door...literally 30 sec max....and she wasn't there.....called her name, nowhere in the back....frantically calling her name running around side of house to the front, not seeing her, running around to the back again, my neighbor hears and runs out calling A and runs around the other side of the house while I run inside screaming her name, and back out...still no where....my neighbor starts screaming Help Help to her husband in the house who comes running....and I am crying and screaming A's name and start running back to the side of the house and here she came....walking calming back. Apparently she had been on the front porch because she wanted to go in the front door. GAAAAAAHHHHHHH

Well needless to say, that just topped off my bad day. Daddy and I had a long talk with her about safety last night.

Today ....well today was so much better. We both woke up in a good mood and opened the door to a glorious spring day. I could not have asked for a more beautiful day today. We did some reading, some science (right now she is working on a 1st grade science unit encompassing living things, both plants and animals, what they need, how they get their food, that food gives them energy, habitats, etc.) and then she asked to do some maps. (We are using 1st and 2nd grade geography lessons to compliment our learning about the world through stories)

After that we headed to Lowes for plants! Such a great Spring day....who could resist.

and then we came home to plant.... A wanted to get some lettuce to plant.....but scroll down and you will see why I said no. We have a several little visitors who like to frequent our back yard, and well one of their favorite foods happens to be lettuce. LOL
So we got a few flowers, some tomatoes, rosemary, mint, thyme, cilantro, and we transplanted some of our bell pepper seedlings....the rest of our seedlings will have to wait to be a little stronger first.
It was wonderful getting our hands in the dirt today.

A's new pet

Yep, A decided that this catapiller would be her new pet. We found it crawling in our downstairs bathroom and she decided we should keep it and give it a home. We had to go to the doc yesterday because apparently she is allergic to something....who would have thought? LOL Afterall she is my child and I am alleric to EVERYTHING. Anyway, she wanted to take him with her but mama said no, so she instead she told the nurse all about him and how he is our new pet because Ana is our old pet. "Ana is old because she keeps running into things...at MeMom's and Pop Pop's there was a bench......" and so the story went on LOL.

Well the catapiller is still alive....and hasn't changed into a butterfly yet, much to nut's dismay. LOL.

Enjoying Spring

We've had a nice taste of Spring lately and nothing has been able to keep us indoors.....not even my horrible allergies that always pop up this time of year with the budding trees and blooming flowers. We spent all day outside today and had a picnic in the back yard. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain and be in the 50's :( I knew it was to good to be true. This southern girl is still not used to PA weather. Dandelions are in abundance right now, and it's a good thing as beautiful as A thinks they are. We have taken many walks along the levee by our house picking these enchanting flowers.

When we did need a short break from all that pollen floating around....we came in and made this beautiful paper flower garland. A said we should hang it in the living room between the windows where the sun could shine in on it. Hopefully this will brighten up our hearts when the damp colder weather comes back this week.

Nature.... God sure is glorious in his blessings.

"I want to be a whole Korean"

This is what I heard from my child this morning. She infrormed me "I am half a Korean. Daddy is a whole Korean. I want to be a whole Korean too!" Hmmmm how to explain race and ethnicity to a just turned 3 year old? This is the question on my mind tonight. She knows where Korea is, and knows that daddy is adopted, she also says she looks like dad....I wonder if she is starting to notice that she does not look like anyone else around here....small town, and no one is mixed race, in fact it is 98% white here....I have a feeling this question is comming up soon.

Tissue paper candle holders!

These turned out beautiful and A ha a blast making them! We got this idea from the wonderful blog Childhood Magic

Here is the finished project. I just lOVE how they turned out. Don't you?

And here is my nutter having fun making them. For those wondering....take some old saved glass jars, tear pieces of tissue paper, and dip them in a mixture of 1/2 glue 1/2 water, then layer pieces on jars and let dry.

Gotta love them drying outside on wine bottles, but it kept them from sticking to anything :)
