A beautiful day part 1

We had several beautiful days last week, and we spent as much time as possible outside. We started our fairy garden...more on that in another post. We started our vegtable seeds, right now the only ones that have sprouted are the radishes LOL. And we headed out to the beach here that is known for sea glass. It has been so much fun. Here are a few pics of one of our days. This is part one :) Blogger was being temperamental and I had to split this into two posts.

After a lot of play, my little peanut feel off the rock you see above and right onto her bottom into the Bering Sea. We headed home and changed. Look for the next post to see what the rest of the day held :)

A Beautiful Day Part 2

Alright, finally part 2 of pics from a beautiful Dutch Harbor day.

So, after a fall in the Bering Sea, we headed back home and changed...planted some more, and got dirty!
I needed some shelving in the front anti-room window to help our seeds start, so here is my impromptu take :) They are doing great by the way. We have all our radishes sprouted now, and as of today some spinach and beets are poking their little heads up. I have never done this before...grow anything from seed, but it is amazing to watch. And I got the most unexpected help the other day. A guy from the city, who plays hockey with Tom, stopped by to let us know they were going to be doing maintenance on the water tank and our water would be out. Well guess who is a gardener and does this every year. Yep, he walked me through what to do step by step. An amazing blessing. I know I will be picking his brain more. I am hoping to get these out and planted soon. Things grow so fast in our short summer here with our 20+ hours of daylight. I would love to actually have fresh vegetables.

After getting dirty, we headed back out to the beach, where we found.....yep look closely....that's a Bering Sea CRAWFISH! I did not know those things even existed up here. My Louisiana self was so excited. To bad he was already dead or her might have been coming home with me :)

Sea glass, also known in our house as Fairy Food! Beautiful isn't it. We have been back several more times to this beach in the last week and have amassed quite a collection.

Today turned out beautiful as well. The most amazing clouds and sun. A layer of low clouds snaked around the island leaving the ground and the tops of the mountains visible with the middle surrounded by a soft gray creeping mist. GORGEOUS. We spent the afternoon at the park, riding bikes, and collecting more fairy food, playing fox, and kicking the soccer ball. Just a glorious day.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! It has been a fun and super busy Easter weekend. I have so many blessings I am thankful for. And today laughing until my belly with my 2 favorite people just reminds me to smile everyday, no matter what is going on :)

This week A and I dyed eggs using all kinds of natural ingredients. The results are impressive don't you think? Spinach for green, blueberries for blue, cumin for yellow, and onion skins made the most gorgeous orange. So much fun that this will be a blog post in and of itself soon.

Saturday morning we started the Easter weekend off right by heading to the highschool for the Lions Club pancake breakfast. It was lots of fun! Food, games, face painting, and prizes, not to mention the chance to see the whole town. Yep living in a small town, it seemed like everyone knew I had been gone on vacation LOL.

Yep, that's a fox! LOL

Then we headed over to the PCR for some Easter fun.....crafts, games, and an Easter egg hunt in the gym.

We came home and made carrot cake cupcakes with orange cream cheese icing! YUM

After opening her Easter basket (which she knew was from mom and dad since she figured out the Easter bunny was not real a few months ago), we headed to Easter service and then another Easter egg hunt after in the sanctuary. When we got home we all played outside in the snow.

Happy Easter!
